Spartan Sound - 1A/2A Grand Champion at Forestview!

Our Spartan Sound Marching Band spent a soggy Saturday preparing for and participating in their second competition of the season.  Early rain postponed some morning rehearsal time outdoors, but that didn't dampen the spirits of the students. After catching a quick lunch and loading up, the band headed to Forestview High School to compete in Class 2A competition.

The skies slowly began to dry up, allowing the Spartan Sound to take to the field and present their production "Imagination!".  Students were evaluated in the areas of Music, Marching, General Effect, Percussion, Colorguard, and Drum Major.  The Spartan Sound competed in Class 2A (Classes are determined by the total number of woodwind and brass players).  The band received trophies in all captions due to the fact that there were no other bands in class 2A.  However, the band also achieved a Superior rating and placed 1st among all the bands in the 1A class also.

After looking at the recap sheet it was also determined that our percussion section placed 3rd out of all 14 schools represented, our colorguard 6th, and Drum Major Branden Rucci was 7th for the day.  Out of 14 total schools the marching band placed 6th overall.  This was done with some less than perfect moments in the performance and the fact that there were five students absent and one out due to an injury.  The Spartan Sound is excited to take their field show on the road again on October 14th to North Gaston High School, where they will perform at 2:50pm.
